Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) allows the Yukon government to nominate individuals for permanent residency in Canada. This program is designed to attract skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to support the territory's economic growth.

Categories of the YNP

1. Yukon Skilled Worker Program

This stream is for skilled workers who have received a job offer from a Yukon employer. To qualify, candidates must:

  • Have a valid job offer in a skilled occupation.
  • Meet the licensing and certification requirements for the position.
  • Demonstrate relevant work experience and language proficiency.

2. Yukon Express Entry Stream

Candidates who qualify for the federal Express Entry system may also be eligible for the Yukon Express Entry Stream. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Meeting the criteria of one of the federal immigration programs (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class).
  • Having a job offer from a Yukon employer is preferred but not mandatory.

3. Yukon International Graduate Program

This stream is for international graduates from recognized post-secondary institutions in Canada. To qualify, candidates must:

  • Have graduated with a certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized institution.
  • Have a job offer from a Yukon employer in a relevant field.
  • Meet language proficiency requirements.

4. Yukon Entrepreneur Program

This program is for individuals looking to invest in or start a business in the Yukon. Eligibility requirements include:

  • A minimum net worth of CAD $500,000.
  • Investment of at least CAD $300,000 in a business in Whitehorse or CAD $150,000 in other Yukon communities.
  • A detailed business plan outlining the proposed business and market knowledge.
  • A refundable deposit of CAD $75,000 to guarantee the execution of a Performance Agreement.

Application Process

The application process generally involves:

  • Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).
  • Receiving an invitation to apply.
  • Submitting a complete application with supporting documents.
